I joined S&A in 1997 as a Production Line Operative in Packing working weekends whilst studying. Once my studies were complete I worked full time in Packing and Despatch as a Production Supervisor looking after approximately 60 staff over 8 production lines before joining the HR team as an HR Assistant. During my time in HR I enjoyed a number of roles before taking up my current position of Employee Relations Manager, where I am responsible for managing a wide range of HR issues for over 500 colleagues. It’s a role I find both challenging and rewarding and one where no two days are the same. Alongside my work at S&A I am also currently working towards my CIPD qualification.
Balti Tandoori – it’s rich, there’s a huge amount of flavour and it’s absolutely loaded with tender chicken.
I joined S&A Foods in 1998 as a Demand Planner forecasting the daily production plan and to develop customer service relationships. Building on my experience of dealing with customers I moved into sales in 2004 as Commercial Executive for Foodservice and in 2009 I was offered the position of Business Development Executive (International) – which I absolutely love. My job is to research export markets, identify and pursue new opportunities and build customer relationships. I put a huge emphasis on customer service but the best part about my job is our new product development. Our chefs are amazing and are constantly coming up with fabulous dishes. And when our customers get as excited about our food as we are we know we’re doing something right.
Lamb Rogan Josh. It's not hot – just full of flavour and aromatic spices and I absolutely love lamb.
I started working with S&A Foods in 1993 as a Production Operative before I moved to a role as QA Auditor. Four years later a unique role was created for a Quality Supervisor to act as an independent gatekeeper on product quality. Due to my passion, commitment and drive to improve current processes I was given the task of introducing our first Quality Centre: the ’End of Line Taste Booth’. In 2005 I was promoted to Customer Quality Manager within the Food Safety and Quality management team, responsible for upholding brand values and sustaining customer expectation for Safety and Quality. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of my job and can honestly say that every day brings a fresh challenge!
Chicken Balti Masala. It tastes divine, a rich creamy tomato and onion sauce of medium consistency, combined with the authentic, unique spice blends delivers a truly Indian flavoured dish. My kids love it too!
My current role within S&A has responsibility for the 24/7 support and development of all business applications on site. The role is varied, fast paced and challenging, balancing formal project management with a shifting set of requirements driven by business and customer priorities. I have been working in IT supporting the manufacturing industry for over 20 years, working initially for Marconi (formerly GEC) before joining S&A in 2001. What I like most about S&A is that there are so many opportunities to pursue new areas of growth and development, and the feeling that we are helping make a real difference to the success of the business.
Having tried almost everything we make over the years my favourite dish would have to be our Lamb Rogan Josh.
In 2004 I joined S&A Foods as an Accounts Clerk for the Financial Accounts function of the business. During my two years in this department S&A have supported me through my final stages of the AAT qualification. I progressed to Assistant Management Accountant where S&A again supported me as I worked towards gaining the CIMA qualification. After four years in my Management Accounts role I have gained the knowledge and practical experience which helped me towards the final stages of qualifying as a Chartered Management Accountant. My role brings new challenges every day, allowing me to constantly develop and achieve my career aspirations as the business continues to grow and succeed.
Chicken Jalfrezi – a great tasting, authentic dish, with just the right level of heat – Perfect (and another advantage of working here!)
I joined S&A Foods as a Production Planner in 1998 during a period of rapid expansion for the company and worked in this department for the next 5 years, helping to implement BPCS (Business Planning and Control System) along with many other improvements to our planning systems. An inter-departmental team was then established to look at our system gaps and I was given the opportunity to join this team looking at Planning & Scheduling. We implemented new software for both these areas which had a dramatic effect on our ability to react to the ever changing needs of our customers. In 2005 I became Long Term Planning Manager, and early in 2007 I was given the opportunity to manage our whole supply chain from the ordering of raw materials to delivery of finished product to our customers.
As I’m a vegetarian my favourite product would have to be our delicious Vegetable Enchiladas.
I love nothing more than playing with ingredients and creating new dishes. After qualifying in Hotel Management I worked with the Hyatt Group, before moving to other prestigious hotel chains such as Sheraton and Oberoi. I then broadened my culinary knowledge working in hotels in the Far East and on board the Cunard QEII. On joining S&A Foods in 1995 as Development Chef, the company was entering an exciting new stage. My dedication and hard work brought many awards to the company, and helped establish S&A as an outstanding food manufacturer. Most of all I take pleasure and pride in designing and developing recipes from around the world for all our customers to enjoy.
Although it is difficult to choose my favourite dish from the range, I’m a spice lover and particularly enjoy the Indian Jalfrezi.
I joined S&A Foods in January 1996 as production operative within the Filling room. Over the years I gained a full understanding of the production environment in all areas and after undertaking a number of roles within production I was promoted to a Shift Manager for the High Care area of the business in 2006. The role is challenging, especially with the demands placed upon production, however I thrive and work at my best in a busy production environment. I look after a team of approximately 70 staff including 4 shift supervisors and I work closely with all other operations departments.
My Favourite dish is the Chicken Jalfrezi, this is because it has a lovely texture with just the right amount of spice.
